FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

A Fresno school has 10,000 new reasons to be happy thanks to one of their third graders.

Samantha Toledo nominated her school,Yokomi Elementary, for Nickelodeon's "The Big Help" contest--and they won.

Yokomi is now one of five winners of a $10,000 prize from the children's cable network.

So why did Samantha do it?

"I wanted the playground and I wanted to help the school," she said.

Bruce Thele, Yokomi Elementary's principal,  said he will let Samantha help lead the push for ideas on how to use the money, but it will go for playground improvements that will encourage students to be more physically active.

Thele says he hopes to make a decision by mid-February.
