Hanford Band Poor Man's Poison Wins National Contest, $100,000

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (KMPH) -

The Hanford-based band Poor Man's Poison has won the Texaco Country Showdown in Nashville, Tennessee.

The received the prize of $100,000 last night. 

Just last week, they performed live on KMPH's Great Day for Festive Friday.

Winning the Showdown puts the band on the national stage.

Previous winners include country legends Garth Brooks, Martina McBride, Brad Paisley and Billy Ray Cyrus.

The guys say they're getting ready to play for U.S. Troops in Guantanamo bay and rock Japan.
