Valley Troops Return Home For The Holidays

Posted:
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

Just in time for the holidays, some Valley families are welcoming their troops home.

KMPH News caught up with Army Sgt. Erika Aldana and her husband, Cpl. Samuel Aldana, on Thursday.

Both flew into Fresno Yosemite International Airport after serving almost a year in Afghanistan.

The Madera couple says it's hard being away from their family but they're lucky to have each other.

"It's hard to be away from our daughter, but it's good that we went together and had each other for support," Sgt. Erika Aldana said.

"It's stressful when she's in certain situations and I'm in certain situations. When she's in that kind of scenario, danger or whatever, other than that it was good," Cpl. Samuel Aldana said.

Army Spc. Jesus Gomez also came home Thursday morning.

His family welcomed him with hugs, cheers and lots of love.

Spc. Gomez had been serving his second tour in Afghanistan.

Gomez and the Aldanas say they're happy they'll be home for Christmas.
