SWAT Standoff In Fresno County Ends Peacefully

FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

A SWAT standoff in Fresno County ended peacefully Wednesday afternoon.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office says two men were arrested at a home along Griffith near Stanford shortly after 4 p.m.

Deputies say they went to the home to serve an eviction notice earlier in the day. But they say Dennis Napier and his adult son, Sean, would not come out.

Deputies say they didn't know if the men had weapons, so they called out the SWAT team.

When tear gas failed to bring them out, the SWAT team decided to go in after them. Using an armored vehicle for cover, police dogs were sent in.

After a bite from one of the dogs, a fight and taser from an officer, the father was taken out and arrested. His son came out and surrendered shortly thereafter.

Both men were booked into jail on a charge of resisting arrest.

Apart from the bite, no one else was hurt.

The home is located near Miramonte Elementary School in Clovis. As a precaution, the school was placed on lockdown for most of the day, and parents were asked to pick up their kids when classes ended.
