Online Business Goes Live in Europe’s Western Most Country

Internet start-up, 10KWEB, is pleased to announce the activation of a team in Portugal. This is the latest team to go live in Europe with others including France, German and Great Britain.

Portugal is located in Southwestern Europe and is bordered to the east by Spain. It boasts a population of over ten point five million citizens as of 2012. It is also known for being in the top twenty of nations with regards to quality of life. It has a strong healthcare system and generally regarded as a peaceful nation among its fellow European Union members.

Portugal’s internet usage has more than doubled over the past decade, from two point five million in 2000 to just under five point two million by 2010. The country’s economic development has been shifting since the 1990s from one of public consumption to exports, private investment and the development of its high-tech sector. Tourism also plays a role with Portugal among the twenty most visited countries in the world. Over thirteen million tourists visiting annually contribute approximately five per cent to the country’s Gross Domestic Product. Most tourists are from neighboring European countries such as Germany, Spain and France.
