Posted: Updated:
MADERA, Calif. (KMPH) -

An arrest has been made in connection with a shooting that killed one person and hurt two others -- including a child -- in Madera Wednesday night.

According to Madera Police, rival gang members got into a fight just before 7 p.m. at Tulare Street and Wessmith Way, and then someone pulled out a gun.

Investigators say the suspect shot two men. 18-year-old Alejandro Vazquez was killed, and his 24-year-old brother was struck in the foot.

An 8-year-old girl who was walking nearby was hit in the arm by a stray bullet.

KMPH spoke with the girl's grandmother. She said her granddaughter is out of the hospital and doing well, but doctors could not remove the bullet from her arm.

The little girl's family had never met the Vazquez family.

The person who was arrested has not been identified.

Police say they expect to make more arrests.
