Posted:
MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KMPH) -

A thief broke into a gas station convenience store in Madera County early Wednesday morning and took off with 12 stacks of lottery tickets.

Shortly before 4:30 a.m., the Madera County Sheriff's Office got word of the break-in at the Valero station -- also known as the 22-Mile House -- at Highway 41 and Road 208.

When deputies got to the business, the thief had already left.

Investigators say they looked at surveillance video which shows a man breaking through a window, racing to the counter, grabbing the lottery tickets and then running out.

According to reports, the crook has been cashing the tickets at Fresno convenience stores.

Anyone with information about this smash-and-grab burglary is asked to call the Madera County Sheriff's Office at (559) 675-7770 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.
