Crime Alert: Crooks Target Your Car, While You Shop

Posted:
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

The holiday shopping season is in full swing, and so are the crooks.

Police want to remind shoppers to cover items left in their cars.

Within minutes our cameras found purses and other items sitting on the floorboard of cars.

Shopper Bonnie Wolfe has a friend who recently had her purse stolen from a car.

Bonnie Wolfe says, "When she came back it was gone, a good reminder. I never leave my purse in the car."

Susanne Taylor says, "They took everything out of the inside of my husband's car, including his dry cleaning. So we've learned not to leave anything in the car."

Another reminder when you do head out to your car: keep your keys in your hand, and be mindful of who's around you.
