MARIPOSA, Calif. (KMPH) -

The four men accused of carrying out a major heist at a Mariposa museum made their first court appearance Monday morning.

According to our news partners at The Mariposa Gazette, all but one of the men entered a not guilty plea to all robbery charges.

Christopher Sheffield, 42, did not enter a plea because there weren't enough defense lawyers present.

Edward Rushing III, 40, Matthew Campbell, 43, and Jonathan Matis, 41, all pleaded not guilty.

The four Northern California men were arrested last week on charges of burglary, conspiracy, vehicle theft and vandalism.

Investigators say $1.3 million worth of gold and precious gems were stolen from the California State Mining and Mineral Museum on September 28.

The CHP, the Mariposa and Placer County Sheriff's Departments and the Sacramento Police Department studied surveillance video and made the arrests.

All four men are currently being held at the Mariposa County Jail. Bail is set at $1 million each.

The museum was closed for several weeks after the robbery. It reopened on November 9.
