DUI Crash In Tulare Co. Leaves 1 Dead, CHP Says

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KMPH) -

The California Highway Patrol says it is investigating a deadly DUI-related crash in the South Valley.

The accident was reported around 3:30 a.m. Monday on SR-216, just north of El Rio Drive, near Ivanhoe.

CHP officers say 36-year-old Rodrigo Lopez was under the influence of alcohol or drugs when he drove his Chevy truck into the opposite lane and crashed into a Toyota truck being driven by a 56-year-old man.

The driver of the Toyota was killed.

Lopez was badly hurt. He was taken to a Fresno hospital where he was arrested.

Investigators have not yet released the name of the man who was killed.
