Search Suspended For Missing Hiker

Posted:
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

The National Park Service has suspended search efforts for a missing hiker who was last seen two weeks ago.

Larry Conn, of Pacific Palisades, began a four-day trip in the rugged wilderness of Kings Canyon National Park on October 19 from Taboose Pass, where he was last seen by another hiker, according to a National Park Service news release.

Conn was reported overdue on the evening of October 23.

Searchers say a winter storm moved in October 20 and dropped a foot of snow. Temperatures dropped as low as 15 degrees.

Officials say more than 50 personnel from multiple agencies and five helicopters helped with the search.

Incident Commander Dave Fox released the following statement:

"The National Park Service and our partners have searched for Larry Conn in challenging conditions in a vast area of wilderness. We have followed up on all potential clues. There is little information left to direct search operations. We will continue to actively search for Larry Conn, if new information is revealed through investigation or tips."
