Fresno Schools May Get Millions Of Dollars

FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

Fresno will now be in the running for tens of millions of dollars worth of grant money for schools.

It came down to the eleventh hour, but the Fresno Unified School District and the Fresno Teachers Association signed off Fresno's Race to the Top grant application early Friday morning.

Race to the Top is an Obama administration grant that would provide almost $40 million for preschool through third grade literacy programs.

FTA had refused to sign off on the application, citing a number of concerns including language over teacher evaluations.
