Pit Bulls Need Homes: Giveaway In San Diego

Posted:
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KMPH) -

After recent strings of violent incidents involving pit bulls, the San Diego Humane Society and animal control officials in San Diego, are clearing the bad rep surrounding the canines. If you look at that type of dog they can be intimidating. They have a brick-like head that houses powerful jaws. They also have a thickly muscled, well-defined neck.

Many states have enacted or are trying to enact breed specific laws against the breed but San Diego Animal Control says over the years pit bulls have had the bad luck of being mistreated or raised to be aggressive to then serve as guard dogs.

To promote pit bull adoptions, the SPCA and animal control officials are waiving all fees and giving discounted training and spay and neuter service. Those interested must also pass an inspection to ensure they can provide the care and space needed for a pit bull.
