Authorities confirm a surfer was killed Tuesday in an apparent shark attack off California's central coast.
Santa Barbara County deputies say 39-year-old Francisco Solorio, Junior of Orcutt was bitten by a shark in the upper torso area.
Solorio's body discovered Tuesday morning at Ocean Park -- just north of Surf Beach on the Vandenberg Air Force Base property in Lompoc.
Solorio was surfing with three friends who tried to save him.
Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigators are still trying to determine what type of shark was involved in the attack.
