Fall looked more like winter especially in the sierra, where the first storm of the season brought a foot of snow.
From rain on the valley floor, to snow in the mountains around 6,000 feet, to power problems all over, winter weather in here.
Norm Kato the owner of Shaver Lake Coffee and Deli couldn't believe it, when he woke up Monday morning.
Norm Kato says, "We are all excited about the first weather coming in. We were kind of surprised we thought it was only going to be rain, we got over 6 inches on the Summit, that's a good thing."
Cars and roofs were covered with several inches of fresh powder, and despite the thick misty fog that covered the lake itself, several decided to take the trek up the hill.
Marissa Standing says, "We saw it rain Fresno we wanted to come up and get some of the snow and maybe build a few ramps for snow boarding."
At the Shaver Lake Village Hotel and Cabins the first storm is a good tell tale sign that the ski season is just around the corner.
The California Highway Patrol wants to remind those heading up to the mountains to always carry chains, and to watch out for snow blowers clearing the roads.
