The Fresno County Coroner says alcohol killed an 18-year-old Fresno State student who was partying at a fraternity house.
During a news conference Monday afternoon, Coroner David Hadden said Philip Dhanens had a blood-alcohol level of 0.36 at the time of his death.
The county's chief forensic pathologist, Dr. Venu Gopal, said Dhanens had swelling of the brain due to acute alcohol consumption.
The Bakersfield man had just started his first semester of college and was pledging to join the Theta Chi fraternity.
He died during the Labor Day weekend after attending a party at the fraternity house off campus.
