FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
Fresno County Sheriff's detectives have made an arrest in connection with a murder in Kingsburg.
On Thursday afternoon, 48-year-old Kathryn Ellis was arrested at a relative's home in Clovis.
Investigators believe she shot and killed her husband, 54-year-old Robert Ellis.
According to detectives, shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday, Kingsburg Police received a 911 call from Kathryn Ellis reporting an intruder at their home along 7th Avenue near Mehlert Street. Officers arrived and found Robert Ellis in the living room, dead of an apparent gunshot wound.
The sheriff's office says Kathryn Ellis said she and her husband were in their bedroom when they heard a noise from another part of the house. She told authorities that she hid in the bathroom while her husband went to investigate.
According to investigators, she said she heard more than one gunshot, then went to check on her husband and found him lying in the living room, shot to death.
Kathryn Ellis has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on a murder charge.
The couple's 15-year-old son was reportedly away from the home at a school function when the incident occurred. He has been turned over to Child Protective Services.
