Teen Flips Dad’s Car, Lands In Front Yard Of Fresno Home

FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

Looking at the red SUV upside-down in someone else's yard was probably not the way a 15-year-old Fresno girl pictured a drive in her dad's car ending up.

"I was crying because I was scared," Alondra Salazar said.

Alondra and her dad, Sergio, had just walked out of their house to go to the store.

"We were walking right here, but we run when we see the car coming. She was coming fast," Sergio Salazar said of the car that flipped over into his yard.

The teen driver tells KMPH News there was a dog in the middle of the road, so she swerved to avoid it.

She hit a pole and that caused her car to flip over, eventually landing in the front yard of Sergio's home.

"It looked terrible," Juan Fuente said

Fuente's daughter was the teen behind the wheel. She was driving his car. He says he has no idea who she was with or why she was driving.

"I don't know nothing, I don't know nothing," Fuente said.

Even so, he came back to the scene to help clean up the mess.

"My daughter made a mistake. So I have to come out here and try to fix it," Fuente said.

Aside from some bumps and bruises, thankfully no one was seriously hurt in the accident. But why the 15-year-old was behind the wheel in the first place is still a mystery.

Fresno police didn't cite the teen driver or even write a report on the accident. But they say the girl's family will have to pay for all the damage she caused. Police also wouldn't comment on the ages of the passengers with her.
