First year head coach Tim DeRuyter has some lofty goals for his Bulldogs, who open the new season Saturday night against Weber State.
DeRuyter comes to Fresno State after serving as Texas A&M's defensive coordinator, so he has an affection for aggressive play on that side of the ball.
DeRuyter wants Fresno State to go after the football on defense, and go after it hard, creating fumbles and interceptions.
He wants the Bulldogs to have 20 plus turnovers this season, a big number when you consider the program's history.
Fresno State has not been on the plus side in turnovers since 2004. Last season, the Bulldogs turned it over 23 times while getting only nine takeaways, so they were minus 14.
