FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

A man wanted in connection with a shooting in Biola was arrested in Fresno Thursday afternoon.

Acting on a tip, detectives went to an apartment in the 4500 block of Polk Avenue and took 20-year-old Jose Ruben Saldivar, of Biola, into custody, Fresno County sheriff's spokesman Chris Curtice said.

Saldivar -- a self-admitted gang member -- had been on the run since July 30 when he walked up to a car parked in the area of Biola and B streets and fired several gunshots at the people inside, Curtice said.

A 20-year-old man sitting in the car was hit. He was flown to Community Regional Medical Center for emergency surgery.

The other people in the car were not hurt.

Saldivar was booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
