MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KMPH) -

Crews spent Sunday afternoon searching for a fisherman who disappeared in the water near Gustine.

The Merced County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team was called out to the aqueduct near I-5 and Butts Road just after 11:30 a.m. after two fishermen fell into the water.

One was able to grab a ladder and get out, but the second one never came up.

Crews spent hours searching for the 45-year-old man, but called off the search after it got dark.
