Chase Turns Up Loot, Fresno Police Say

Posted:
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

One man is in jail but two others are still on the loose after Fresno Police say they tried to get away with a car full of stolen property Thursday afternoon.

Police say the driver of a blue Honda took off when they tried to stop him in North Fresno -- on Fresno Street near Bullard Avenue -- then did that again when they caught up with him at a home on Saginaw.

Police say the man drove across the lawn and smashed into two other cars, then got out and ran along with his two passengers.

Citizens helped officers find the driver.

After they arrested him, police say they found out why he ran.

"We believe the reason the car was being evasive and the reason the people ran from the vehicle was we believe it's involved in burglaries. We have a lot of what we believe to be stolen property. So we know these crooks are up to no good, and they're trying to avoid detection," said Fresno Police Lt. Burke Farrah.

No one was hurt in the crash.
