FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
A fundraising event is being held this weekend to help a Fresno family reeling from a tragedy.
Seven-year-old Donovan Maldonado was killed in July after Fresno Police say a drunk driver crashed into him and his family while they rode their bikes. Police say the driver -- Loren LeBeau -- took off, spoke with a friend, then came back to the scene.
Donovan's father and sister were hurt in the crash. They are still recovering from their injuries.
Friends of the Maldonado family will hold a Zumbathon and silent auction on Saturday, August 18. The event will run from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the PG&E Fresno Clubhouse -- 2252 S. Orange Avenue.
Tickets are $5 in advance and $10 at the door.
For more information, contact Melissa Lennex at (559) 840-5332 or Susan Mize at (209) 404-0798.
Event organizers say 100 percent of the proceeds from the Zumbathon and silent auction will go to the Maldonado family.
