An 18-year-old Hanford woman is dead following a head-on crash near NAS Lemoore.
The crash happened around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 198, west of Jameson Avenue.
California Highway Patrol officers say the woman was driving a 2006 Chevrolet HHR westbound on the highway, when she drifted to the eastbound side and crashed head-on with a big rig.
The woman was flown to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, where she later died. The CHP says she was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the big rig was taken to a hospital. He's expected to be okay.
Officers say the accident caused the big rig's load of tomatoes to spill onto the highway, forcing it to close for about four hours.
The crash is still under investigation.
