FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
A wanted child molester is now behind bars thanks to the good looks of a local law enforcement officer.
Investigators say this man cut off his ankle monitor and wasn't checking in with his parole officer after being convicted of child molestation.
Authorities say they caught him on Tuesday because he tried to flirt with an officer on a stakeout in Central Fresno.
"This guy was checking out one of the vehicles that he saw a female in. He didn't know it was an undercover officer. By the time he realized this is probably not a good person to be flirting with, we had already obtained a tag, ran it and it came back stolen," said Joseph Basile, with the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force.
The man tried to get away, but he was driving crazy and crashed the stolen car he was in.
Investigators have not released the man's name.
