FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
A 7-year-old boy who died after being struck by a suspected drunk driver was remembered in Northeast Fresno Monday night.
Classmates, family and friends gathered at Peoples Church for a public memorial for Donovan Maldonado.
Fresno Police say Donovan, his father and sister were on a bike trail in the area of Millbrook and Shepherd on the night of July 25 when Loren LeBeau crashed into them, took off and then came back. They say LeBeau had a blood-alcohol level of 0.11 percent.
Donovan died a few hours after the crash. His father and sister continue to recover from their injuries.
The community has rallied with several big fundraisers, including a yard sale earlier this month, to raise money for the family.
