TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KMPH) -
Southern California Edison (SCE) nixed plans for a major planned power outage, as temperatures are expected to hit the triple digits.
Over a week ago, families in Visalia, Farmersville and Exeter had been warned their power could go out on Monday so the utility provider could carry out maintenance.
About 100 homes were supposed to be offline.
Rather than a more widespread outage, SCE region manager Brian Thoburn says the power is out for a few families.
According to the utility's website, it went off at 9 a.m., and should be back on around 4 p.m.
Thoburn tells KMPH News, "The reality of it is the kind of work we do is year-round. It's important for folks to understand when we do this planned maintenance, it assures the reliability and safety for our customers to minimize unplanned outages."
