CLOVIS, Calif. (KMPH) -
Three Clovis police officers are safe after crashing their patrol vehicles into each other Wednesday night.
The crash happened around 9:45 p.m. near Gettysburg and DeWolf avenues in Clovis.
According to police spokeswoman Janet Stoll-Lee, three officers headed out to help Fresno County Sheriff's Deputies check on a possible copper wire theft.
The first officer saw five people and stopped to speak with them.
The officer in the second patrol car slowed down.
Stoll-Lee says the officer in a patrol truck did not stop as quickly and ran into the back of the second patrol car, which in turn, hit the first car.
Paramedics took two officers to Community Regional Medical Center where they were treated for minor injuries and released. The third officer was treated at the scene.
The police department says the officers were traveling at about 45 mph.
