MERCED, Calif. (KMPH) -
Authorities in Merced are asking for the public's help in finding a man they say is passing himself off as a lawyer and stealing thousands of dollars from people.
Merced Police say the man tells people he can help them with their immigration status and has even advertised on the radio.
Police say he then charges $3,000 for those services but doesn't deliver on his promise.
One victim says he contacted and paid the man through America Legal Services on U Street, but when he went back to the office the building was empty.
Now investigators say they want to know if more people have been victims of this scam or if anyone knows the man.
