Avenal Boxer Falls Short At Olympics

FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

An Avenal native's gold medal dreams are gone at the 2012 Olympics.

Lightweight boxer Jose Ramirez lost in the round of 16 to a fighter from Uzbekistan, 15-11, on Thursday.

After the fight, he tweeted, "Thank you all who showed support. I hope I gave you all a great show. I wasn't the better fighter today, but I thank God for this opportunity."
