FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
While 18-year-old Nicole Jones fights for her life in the hospital, her father fights for justice against the gang member police say shot her and a 38-year-old mother of ten.
Primus Jones is the father of Nicole Jones.
Jones says, "We haven't made any plans, haven't made any judgments, because I have faith in my daughter and the Lord that he will pull my daughter through this."
Nicole Jones is a 2012 graduate of Hoover High School.
Nicole remains in the hospital's intensive care unit.
Police say Nicole along with Naomi Ramirez innocently stepped out of a Central Fresno home right when 31-year-old Anthony Garcia opened fire on a crowd with a shotgun.
Pellets struck Nicole in the face, and hit Ramirez in the back.
Erik Ramirez says, "It went through her back and went to her neck, they had to open her neck but she is talking."
Primus Jones says, "This guy had a chance to think about what he was going to do. He had a chance to go get the gun. He had a chance to go back and then go run and hide the gun that is premeditated."
Police say Garcia and 25-year-old Joshua Woodworth, who officers say tried to hide the shotgun, have both been arrested on two counts of attempted murder.
Police say both are known gang members.
Mister Jones has this message for them, "Once you become a parent you are going to know how I feel and everyone else is feeling. Once you loose someone you are really close to, that is part of you, part of me is dying. Right now you will know how I feel."
Jones says he did all he could to protect his only daughter growing up. Now all he can do is pray her life is spared.
Primus Jones says, "You have to have faith and hope, and if the Lord chooses to do what he's going to do you have to accept that. I have to really accept that because it's not in my hands now, it's out of my hands."
Family members say Ramirez, who was shot in the back, is expected to be released from the hospital sometime next week.
Primus Jones is hoping he can welcome his daughter home one day too.
