FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KMPH) -
The Fresno County Sheriff's Office says two Del Rey men have been arrested in connection with the murder of 19-year-old Renato Arevalo.
The two men were identified as 18-year-old Angel Nunez and 19-year-old Jesus Arevalo. The sheriff's office says Jesus Arevalo and the victim are not related.
On July 24, shortly after 10 p.m., firefighters and CHP officers went to an orchard in the area of Adams and Del Rey avenues in Del Rey after receiving a call about a vehicle fire.
Fire crews put out the flames and found Renato Arevalo's burned body in the vehicle's trunk. The sheriff's office says he was murdered.
Detectives continued with their investigation and arrested Jesus Arevalo at his home on Wednesday.
SWAT Team members served a search warrant at Nunez's home Thursday morning. Detectives say during the search they found evidence that tied both men to the murder. Nunez was arrested at the scene.
Both Arevalo and Nunez were booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of murder and arson.
Detectives say this case is still under investigation and more arrests are possible.
