MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KMPH) -

A 13-year-old Madera boy is facing felony drug charges after authorities say they caught him growing marijuana in his home.

Madera County Sheriff's Deputies say they found a two-foot-tall marijuana plant, numerous starter plants and seeds at a home on Martin Street near Road 26 Wednesday evening during an investigation into a stolen laptop.

Deputies say the boy's mother told them she was unaware of the cannabis.

The 13-year-old boy was arrested and booked into Madera County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of marijuana cultivation.
