FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
Fresno police are investigating a shooting that left two women with gunshot wounds Wednesday night.
It happened around 7 o'clock near the corner of Vassar and Glenn, which is just a little northeast of Fresno City College.
Police say they found two women hit by gunfire, possibly from a shotgun.
One woman was hit in the back. The other was hit in the forehead.
Both were rushed to the hospital; one is listed in critical condition.
Neighbors in the area say they saw people running then heard someone yell, "he has a gun" and that's when they heard a loud boom.
Mark Padilla saw one of the women get hit.
Padilla says, "She just fell to the ground and she had a really big hole in her head."
Reporter asks, "You ran over to her?"
Padilla says, "Yeah, I ran over and put some water on her because she was panting for air and she just fell, everybody was panicking."
Police have yet to release a motive, but neighbors say the shooting may be retaliation from a fight that took place sometime Tuesday.
Police did find a shotgun near the campus of Fresno City College, and several people have been detained for questioning.
