Not Chickening Out: Chick-Fil-A Supporters Pack Into Fresno Restaurant

FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

"This is all about freedom of choice," John Gandy said as he waited in line at Chick-Fil-A.

"I support anybody in America being able to voice their own opinion and not being penalized for it," Jana Wilkerson said.

"It's freedom of speech," Dan Riley said.

Dan Riley is probably the most popular guy in his office.

"I stopped by and got lunch for the whole office," Riley said.

He says this is more about people's rights than poultry.

"I believe in the constitution and I believe in everything it stands for. So if someone's able to speak their opinion and someone else can sit across the aisle and speak their opinion, you can argue all day, just don't bring in the dredges and they did. And I think this is the backlash of it, you see a huge show of support," Riley said.

The Dildine brothers convinced their parents to wait for more than hour in the drive-through line, at least 50 cars deep.

"There's some boundaries that people should have in attacking people that voice their opinion," Jerry Dildine, the boys' father, said.

"It's protecting the person that's being bullied right now. People are kind of lashing out against him," Taylor Dildine said.

"I don't care if gays want to get married, that's fine, I'm all for that. But I'm not for the aggressive words that are being passed," Todd Dildine said.

Employees handed out water; some customers even bought drinks for those still waiting in line.

Still, folks who came out say despite the heat, they'd do it all over again.

"Yes, I think it's important to stand up for something," Wilkerson said.

On Friday, those upset with the C.E.O.'s comments are planning on what they call a "kiss in."

They're encouraging gays and lesbians to go to Chick-Fil-A's across the country, sit in the booths and take up restaurant space and kiss each other.
