FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
Kohl's is awarding $10,000 to an 11-year-old Fresno girl with a big humanitarian heart.
Kaitlin Riffel is one of ten kids to receive the scholarship.
She, along with her friends, are nearing their goal of raising $75,000 to build a playground for the Fresno Rescue Mission.
Kaitlin's passion for others doesn't stop there. She already knows what she wants to do for the kids after making that playground a reality.
"We will probably be putting together backpacks with school supplies and Bibles in it to give to the needy kids for the new school year," she told KMPH News Tuesday afternoon.
Over the past nine months, Kaitlin and her friends have raised more than $27,000 to build that playground.
