North Valley Soldier Dies In Afghanistan

FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

A North Valley soldier has died in Afghanistan while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Spc. Benjamin C. Pleitez, 25, of Turlock, died July 27, in Mazar E Sharif, Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced Monday afternoon.

Pleitez was assigned to 1072nd Transportation Company, 746th Combat Support Battalion, 224th Sustainment Brigade, Van Nuys, the DOD said.

Pleitez was part of the California National Guard.

No other details were immediately available.
