HANFORD, Calif. (KMPH) -

After climbing onto the rooftop of a Hanford business and staying there for several hours, a man is back on the ground, police said.

Hanford Police say the man -- who has not been identified -- climbed onto the roof of a business at a shopping center on 12th Avenue and Lacey Boulevard early Monday morning.

According to officers, he came back down at about 2:30 p.m. and was taken to an area hospital to get checked out.

The man's family told KMPH News that he walked away from Adventist Health Hospital earlier in the day.

The Target, Starbucks, Pet Smart and other shops in the area were closed as police officers tried to help the man.
