MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KMPH) -
The Merced County Sheriff's Department is investigating after an inmate died in her jail cell just hours before she was to be released on bail.
38-year-old Leticia Willoughby was booked into the John Latorraca Correctional Facility Friday on felony drug and weapons charges.
She complained about being cold, and was given a blanket and sweatshirt.
The Merced County Sheriff says Willoughby died after she went to sleep.
She was by herself in her cell. Her body was found Sunday morning.
An autopsy will be done later this week to find out what caused her death.
