FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KMPH) -
Authorities seized hundreds of marijuana plants in Fresno County Friday morning.
Members of the Fresno County Sheriff's Office and agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) served four federal search warrants in the community of Three Rocks and found more than 700 marijuana plants, said Lt. Rick Ko with the sheriff's office.
The bust was part of Operation Mercury, a collaborative effort between federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to eradicate pot grows in the Valley.
Ko says Friday's operation was unique because many of the marijuana plants were more than 12 feet tall. He says each of the plants could have produced about six pounds of high-grade processed marijuana.
The case will be forwarded to the United States Attorney's Office.
