FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
More than a hundred strong gathered in front of Liberty Elementary School in northeast Fresno to remember 7-year-old Donovan Maldonado.
Pastor Brad Bell of the church known as "The Well" led the crowd in prayer and song.
The vigil was held at Liberty where little Donovan would have entered the second grade this fall.
Most remember Donovan as a fire plug, a friendly little boy who loved turtles and sports.
Many say the vigil was a way for the entire community to rally around the family.
Tricia Funk says, "Donovan was a vivacious child. He loved to play soccer and had a passion for life."
As word spread of the tragedy, throughout the day friends and even strangers stopped by the accident scene and dropped off flowers and letters.
