Volunteers Fix Up Clovis Homes Hoping To Change Lives

CLOVIS, Calif. (KMPH) -

Teens and young adults from across the country are hard at work in Clovis this week.

The 180, junior high, high school and college students arrived Monday and have been hammering, sawing, hauling and painting ever since.

They're part of the "World Changers" Christian volunteer ministry.

Their 4-day long mission? To clean up and repair 14 homes for homeowners who can't afford to do it themselves and, they say, to deliver an important message.

"I've been given so much in my life," says Ashley Mask, "that I'm more than willing and wanting to give them a little bit."

Michael Mello agrees, but added, " It's just something Jesus wanted us to do. He wanted us to go out and tell the world about his gospel by helping others."

They also say it's a great way to meet new friends.

In addition to the homes, the volunteers will be upgrading the Clovis Salvation Army building.

Thanks to the "World Changers", organizers say homeowners will save about $200,000 on all the work.
