FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
Conan O'Brien wants to help fix Fresno's financial challenges. O'Brien has been keeping an eye on Fresno and Tuesday night during his monologue on his late night show the man known to millions as Coco unveiled his financial fix.
"Fresno needs a lot of cash fast. So I'm gonna solve their money problems by giving them a tourist magnet. This thing just attracts tourists by the bucket load. This thing was a huge hit in Chicago. It always draws a crowd. I'm talking about the one and only Conan Bobblehead."
It didn't take long for Fresno City Hall to respond. Mayor Ashley Swearengin fired off a letter to Conan at Warner Brothers in Burbank. "We in Fresno are so inspired by your leadership that I am writing to formally invite you and the iconic Conan Bobblehead to Fresno. We agree that the Conan Bobblehead would provide a unique tourism opportunity for our region."
Conan's fans in Fresno are behind the effort. "I would love to see your bobblehead in Fresno. I think it could help our local economy," said Katelyn Lujano of Fresno.
Reyna Garcia agrees it would be great to see his bobblehead. "Because that's tight. When I'm bored and up at night I watch him cause he's kinda funny. "
Now the big question is where do you put the bobblehead? You can place it below the old arch on Van Ness that calls Fresno the best little city in the USA, but no one will see it.
The main jail should be considered since lately so many people are coming and going. There's lots of room at City Hall but that's unimaginative.
Maybe this is the best location for Conan the bobblehead. Right next to the bust of William Saroyan. He is one of our most famous Fresnans. The last couple of locations to be considered, Shaw and Blackstone where major protests are staged, or there's one of Fresno's most popular shopping districts River Park.
Conan has an idea too. "The truck that we use to deliver the bobblehead we're gonna park it in a place where it's sure to get ticketed. That is more money that goes straight into the city's pocket."
Late word from Fresno City Hall... no response yet from Conan or Warner Brothers. Stay tuned.
