OCALA, Fla. (KMPH) -
You won't believe how far, police in Florida say, two women went to steal clothes from a Walmart.
Police say the two tried to steal about $60 worth of clothes in their cart.
But store security was onto them and, in surveillance video, you can see an officer go up to the two just outside the exits.
Then, they bolted and left behind a one-year-old baby in the shopping cart.
One of the women is the child's mother, the other is the child's aunt.
"When the loss prevention officer asked her, 'Are you going to come get your child?' she said, 'It's not my child. It's not my child.' And she continued to leave, and then they both abandoned the baby," said Sgt. Chas Maier, with the Ocala Police Department.
Officers found and arrested the sisters the following night. They were partying at a club.
One of the women was already on probation for carrying out a home invasion robbery while she was pregnant.
The one-year-old is now in protective custody.
