The California Department of Motor Vehicles on Monday said it was experiencing some technical difficulties with its online network.
A power outage at California Tech Agency over the weekend caused some of the DMV's systems to shut down. Other state agencies were also reportedly affected.
Most of the systems rebooted quickly. Full service was restored by 5 p.m. Monday.
The DMV had this message posted on its website:
"DMV online services are operating slower than usual. We are working to restore full service as quickly as possible. In the interim, there are a number of ways to conduct your DMV business. Agents at our Customer Service Center can assist with immediate DMV needs at 800-777-0133. Vehicle registration transactions can also be made through DMV's Self Service Terminals at selected field offices. And, you can also mail in your vehicle renewals. Stay tuned for further updates."
