Man Shot In Madera County; Gunman On The Loose

Posted:
MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KMPH) -

The Madera County Sheriff's Department says it is looking for the gunman who opened fire on a man, leaving him in very bad shape.

Investigators say a man knocked on the door of a home on Parkwood Avenue just before 10:30 p.m. Thursday and asked for the 20-year-old victim by name. They say the victim answered the door then tried to slam it shut after seeing the gunman, but he was unable to close it before he was shot.

Sheriff John Anderson says it appears the two men know each other. Based on information detectives have gleaned so far, Anderson says the incident may have been gang-related.

The victim is still in the hospital, clinging to life.

According to investigators, the gunman is described as a man in his 20s, between 5'5" and 5'8" tall. He was wearing a white shirt and black and red shorts.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Madera County Sheriff's Office at (559) 675-7770 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.
