A souvenir shop in Oakhurst is now carrying all American-made items.

Every year, thousands of people heading to and from Yosemite National Park stop by the Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau (YSVB) souvenir store to buy gifts for family and friends. Now, those souvenirs will be made in the USA.

"I felt it was important that we make the switch. As millions of Americans are still struggling to find work, this small gesture may help a company keep someone employed, or may even help them to hire someone else," said YSVB CEO Dan Cunning.

Gifts include Yosemite photos printed on various media, T-shirts, stuffed animals, postcards and more.

"We went out specifically looking to purchase items that were made domestically. Some of the items may cost a dollar or two more, but it's worth it as our economy still recovers," said Judi Hussain, Visitor Center Manager.

Hussain adds that visitors -- both local and foreign -- have been thankful for the switch.

The visitor center and shop are located at 40637 Highway 41 in Oakhurst.
