Summer Fun Returns To Pinedale: Public Pool Reopens

Posted:
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

It's a moment kids in Pinedale have dreamed about for two years. The water is back in the pool. The pool at the Pinedale Center has been dry for the past two summers due to budget cuts.

But thanks to an anonymous donor the City of Fresno gave the green light to get kids back in the pool. Joseph Perry of the Boys To Men Girls To Women Foundation oversees the center. "Donor if you're listening to me today God bless you. May riches come to follow you and what you did today was an absolute miracle. You really made a difference in the lives of people."

A check for seven thousand dollars got the pool operating again. There are lifeguards and it will be open seven days a week from one to five in the afternoon. Kids from Pinedale couldn't be happier. "Because it's hot out. It's too hot and glad to have a pool opened."

Minutes after the pool opened kids were making big splashes. Can you say, cannonball? "We don't have a pool or anything so we just wanna get wet."

Community leaders like David Rodriguez are just happy to see the kids outside having fun. "What I see most of all smiling faces. They have something to do and it's the enjoyment of the pool. Getting in the water and cooling off. That brings excitement in myself."

Admission is free and the pool will be open daily until the end of summer. Thanks to generous donors the Pinedale pool already has enough funds to operate again next summer.
