A man has been arrested in Merced, accused of stabbing another man following an argument over a cigarette.
Merced Police say Phi Dvong, 41, was booked into jail for aggravated assault and outstanding warrants.
Investigators say a 29-year-old man went up to Dvong's apartment along West 2nd Street Friday morning, knocked on his bedroom window and asked for a cigarette. They say the two got into an argument and Dvong told the man to leave.
The man left and went into another apartment unit, two doors down. Police say Dvong showed up at that apartment and stabbed the man in the back.
The victim was taken to Mercy Medical Center. Police say he's expected to be okay.
Dvong was questioned then taken into custody.
