FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
A man is lucky to be alive after being swept down a Central Fresno canal Friday morning.
Fresno firefighters say a man was trying to cool off in a canal near Thomas and La Sierra around 11 a.m. when he slipped into the fast-moving water.
Firefighters say someone walking nearby saw the man struggling and grabbed him. Soon after, other people saw what was happening and called 911.
A couple of police officers showed up and helped pull the man out of the water. He was taken to the hospital with some minor bumps and bruises.
